San Leandro, CA (PRWEB) August 12, 2011

Restaurants and other foodservice outlets nationwide are once again supporting breast cancer awareness in a sweet wayby featuring limited-edition Otis Spunkmeyer Pink Cookies on their menus. Starting today and continuing through October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, many restaurants will offer the Pink Cookiea chocolate cookie loaded with pink candy-coated chocolate piecesas a special dessert or in conjunction with promotional events that raise awareness and money for local breast cancer programs. Last year, Otis Spunkmeyer customers baked and served approximately 10 million Pink Cookies. Otis Spunkmeyer, LLC, has donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure at least $ 100,000 in connection with the Pink Cookie program.

Every year the foodservice industry rallies around the cause to fight breast cancer. Our customers anticipate and embrace the Pink Cookie as a starting point for creating their own unique promotions and fundraisers, said Judy Karner, vice president of foodservice marketing for Otis Spunkmeyer. We are proud to offer a product that makes a positive difference in local communities and on a national level through our partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure, an organization we admire for its tireless efforts to end breast cancer forever.

The Pink Cookie is available August 1 October 31 and can be purchased by restaurants and other foodservice outlets through regular distribution channels. It is available year-round to schools and other organizations through the Otis Spunkmeyer fundraising program.

Our partnership with Otis Spunkmeyer has been a success, and we are delighted to continue the partnership this year, said Margo K. Lucero, vice president, business development and partnerships for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The funds received from the Pink Cookie are vital in fighting breast cancer, and because of this program, we are closer to discovering and delivering the cures for breast cancer.
